TAKE CARE ON ROAD TO ABERARTH
On the road, travelling from the village to Aberarth, there is a lot of mud, stone and debris being left on the road from continuing works and site machinery using the road, rather than the off-road tracks, at the new Dairy Farm. The mud is particularly bad on the sharp bend at the top of the hill but is being spread over a long section of road. There are no warning signs and, with the rain falling onto this surface, it is making it very slippy.
SPRING IS ON ITS WAY
From Pamela, Llanlwyd.
The swallows and house martins have already started their long, dangerous route back here!! There have been sightings over Gibraltar in the past day or so and we are all hoping they stop off there for a while until the weather gets better.
Incredible to think of them coming all this way and I'm sure we'll be happier than ever to see them back this year.
Ceredigion Council are very keen to begin a campaign to help these birds and we can all make a difference. Making sure their regular nest sites are accessible and also bringing other folk in on the joys and bravery of these birds are so important.
It's also a really good idea to remind others that destroying nests during the whole of the nesting period is a wildlife crime. There is currently an important UK side campaign to afford them more protection and to ban sales of contraptions which deter the birds from making nests.
I will keep anyone who wishes up to date with their progress.
Let's look forward to their return and prepare in anticipation!
